Linda's Upcycling Fundraiser 2024

A Celebration of Creativity, Community, and Sustainability!

On September 14th, the Linda's Upcycling Fundraiser was an incredible success! Bursting with energy, this event brought together a passionate crowd for a fun-filled day of fashion reinvention and tasting international flavours—all in the name of raising funds for vital educational projects in Guinea Bissau. Here’s a recap of the day’s highlights that had everyone buzzing!

What Made This Event So Special?

1. Upcycle Your Wardrobe – Fashion Fun with Dandan Zhu! Two hands-on workshops led by none other than the talented Dandan Zhu! A designer from China, Dandan shared her magic, showing participants how to transform old clothes into chic new pieces.

2. Treasure Hunt in the Charity Shop – Shop ‘Til You Drop! Guests were invited to bring in clothes they no longer wore and shop for gems among others’ donations. The best part? You paid whatever you wanted for your stylish finds! It was a thrifting dream come true, with any leftover items going towards more fundraising efforts at London South East Colleges.

3. Win Big in the Raffle – Seriously Awesome Prizes! Guests entered for the chance to win jaw-dropping prizes like a two-night stay in beautiful Valencia or Newcastle, a private gardening consultation with an expert, a Goan curry masterclass, and even a personalized clothing makeover session with Dandan herself!

4. Global Feast – A Taste Adventure! Guests were treated to an incredible lineup of international dishes! From Ecuador’s famous empanadas to Nepali Mo Mo and Senegalese delicacies, the food was a culinary passport to different cultures, lovingly prepared by ESOL students. It was as delicious as it was diverse, with every bite adding to the excitement!

The Heart of the Cause ❤️

Beyond the fun, Linda’s Upcycling Fundraiser had a bigger mission: raising funds to expand Reinaldo Natcha’s Martin Luther King School in Guinea Bissau and kickstarting the construction of a new school. These projects will change the lives of so many children, and donations are also being collected to sponsor girls for university education—opening doors to brighter futures.

If you couldn’t attend, don’t worry! You can still be a part of this incredible cause by donating through PayPal on the AGB website. Every penny helps us build schools, sponsor students, and transform lives.

This event was great and its impact will be felt for years to come. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue supporting education through creativity and community!
